New York Sour

 

This pale pink beauty is exactly what you’d expect from a whiskey sour but with a subtle twist. It's an extremely pleasant drink with a tart bite and a smooth finish. 

Don't have port? Try a dry red wine (Syrah or Malbec). Don't have an egg or want raw egg whites in your drink - skip it.

 

New York Sour

1.25 oz rye

.75 oz fresh lemon juice

.5 oz simple syrup*

1 egg white

.25 oz red wine or ruby port

 

Combine ingredients other than red wine in cocktail shaker without ice. Shake hard, then add ice and shake again, until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Gently pour red wine on top.

*To make the simple syrup: Dissolve 1 part sugar in 1 part hot water. Let cool before using.
