A Happy New Year Cocktail

It’s New Year’s Eve, so what better time to share with you my favourite cocktail? I’m a whiskey sour kinda girl, but a bourbon sour is just as good. Have you ever made one? The key is the egg white; you see egg white, when shaken, becomes frothy and silky, and absolutely divine. The other mandatory ingredient is the bitters, you can find them at many specialty shops, if you live in Ottawa, you’ll see them at C.A. Paradis and the Bagel Shop to name a few.

Bourbon Sour

1 ½ shots bourbon

1 egg white

¾ shot simple syrup

¾ shot lemon juice

Old Fashioned Aromatic Bitters

Ice

Start by putting your glass in the freezer. It’s important to get the glass really cold.

Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Pour in the bourbon, egg white, simple syrup, and lemon juice. Put the top on the shaker and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds, until the mixture seems very frothy.
