Homemade Cough Drops

If you're looking for a more all-natural alternative to the cough drops found at the local drug store, look no further. Chances are, you even have all the ingredients for this recipe in your cupboard.

Note that, like most all-natural products, these little nuggets of joy don't work the same way regular cough drops do. The honey and coconut oil coat and sooth your throat as they melt, but don't last as long as one would hope. Sometimes I find it better to just eat a spoonful of honey.

However they are delicious and have a beautiful, velvety texture as they melt in your mouth, and they remind of a honey and cinnamon flavoured fudge. I will definitely be making these again.

Homemade Cough Drops

1/2 cup coconut oil, room temperature

1/2 cup raw local honey

1 teaspoon of organic cinnamon

Scoop coconut oil into a mixer bowl and beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer until it’s whipped. Add the honey and continue to whip until the honey and oil are mixed.

Add cinnamon and mix until just combined.

Pour mixture into small ice cube trays or into a container lined with plastic wrap.

Freeze the coconut cough drops until they’re hard, about 20 minutes.

Pop the cough drops out of their tray and cut them into cubes if necessary.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
